Meet the founders of Hyland.
Hyland Insurance was established in 1983 by brothers Tim & Pat Hyland.
The original name of the agency was T.M. Hyland Company, and they started in a small office in Old Louisville before moving to our first home on South Third Street. Both came from outside the industry to start the agency. Tim was a high school teacher, coach, and administrator for most of his early adult life, and Pat worked in the foundry at International Harvester. Unsure of what they were embarking on, they knew that consistent hard work and perseverance could make a difference in the community.
From the outset, their mission was clear: to establish an agency that served the community and enabled and empowered others to achieve their goals. The core values established early on—humility, hustle, and trustworthiness — still permeate the organization today, inspiring us to continue our commitment to community and helping others achieve their goals.
In a unique twist, Tim and Pat not only started the business together and worked together every day for 40 years, but also retired simultaneously, marking the end of an era. After years of dedicated service, both brothers decided to step down at the end of 2023. They are now enjoying a well-deserved retirement, spending time with their family and exploring new horizons. Their legacy of persistence, perseverance, and determination will continue to inspire us for years to come.
